Last week in the Faux Fur challenge I finished in second place! Refashion Runway is a 6-week upcycle/restyle online event. I was chosen to participate in the weekly challenges. Each week there is online voting, judging and eliminations. This week’s challenge is small to large.
I just love the color of this wool coat dress a friend gave me a few years ago. It was a bit tight across the back and I didn’t care for the straight silhouette.

By removing the sleeves I gained freedom across the upper back area. I used the sleeves to make 5 godets. A godet is a triangular shaped fabric insert. By adding 3 godets to the back and 2 to the front I was able to achieve the fit & flare silhouette that I had envisioned.

I wet felted this wool/mohair scarf last year and really didn’t have anything to wear with it.

So I took the leftover wool/mohair roving and needle felted it into the bottom of the vest.

I hand beaded the center front, armholes and collar.

The gold buttons were replaced with beaded round balls made from leftover beads used in the outline beading.

I really enjoyed this challenge.
